If you are looking to catch a fish, you are in luck, as Lake Buchanan is known for its striped, white, and largemouth bass. Many guests also choose to tow or rent a speed boat so they can tube, water ski, cruise, or float in the water.

One of the best-kept secrets is the unbeatable sunrises and sunsets many people choose to view over the water. If you are staying with us take a walk down to the water and you will not be disappointed!

2) State Parks

State parks offer many of the same perks that national parks do, albeit, on a much smaller scale.  There are a number of state parks in the region, each of which can make a incredible outing for anyone visiting our neck of the woods.

Longhorn Cavern State Park: Less than 20 minutes away, Longhorn Cavern state park is a unique Hill Country destination full of natural beauty and Texas-sized tales. The park’s star attraction is Longhorn Cavern, an underground wonder created by an ancient river’s dissolving and cutting action. This is a family favorite and provides a great escape to the Texas heat!

Inks Lake State Park: This 1,200-acre state park is known for the 803-acre Inks Lake used for fishing, scuba diving, and other water sports. It is located only 10 minutes down the road from Big Chief Rv Resort! Because the lake’s level usually stays constant, you can play here year-round. Rent paddle boats, canoes, or kayaks and explore the park at your pleasure.

3) Outdoor Recreation

In addition to the state parks, water activities, and star gazing, there are many other outdoor recreation options around the lake area! First, take a drive to Reveille Peak Ranch, where you can partake in outdoor adventure events such as biking, hiking, and more! if that is not enough, find your way to a local vineyard and winery where you can taste the fruits of the region. we love Torr Na Loch’s Vineyard and hope you will too!
